Planar is made by CodeStage, a small studio building focused apps for people who want their phone to do one thing properly. No feeds, no upsell screens between you and your document, nothing of yours stored on our servers.
Three rules we build by.
On the device, or not at all
If a feature needs your documents on a server, we do not build it. Detection, cleanup, text recognition and search all run on the phone, so the app works on a plane and your lease never leaves your hand.
The free version is the real app
Free means the whole scanner, with a document limit and a small mark. Pro is for people who scan a lot or need the professional tools, not a key to features we held back to annoy you.
Native where it counts
The interface is shared across platforms so both get every feature on the same day. The scanning engine is not: Apple Vision on iPhone, OpenCV and Google ML Kit on Android, each tuned for its hardware.

Every scan goes through the same pipeline: find the page, straighten it, clean it, read it, file it. Each step is tested against sample photos with known answers, so a change that makes detection worse fails before it ships.
